Thank you, it was suggested to me that as there was a US army barracks on the land that maybe one of them brought it back from Germany. I prefer to think a German gentleman on a horse riding over the land dropped it.

I've found a couple German coins in the Netherlands. This one, however, was found twenty yards across the border in Germany. It was a big suprise for sure! [81/]

Found this little beaut in a field in East Yorks the other day. At first I thought "nice hammered" but it turned out to be a 1705 German shilling. Its very much liker a hammered silver coin of the Eddie ilk. Still nice though

Similar design to the 1805 one schilling that was found in Worcestershire in 2016 - in the MDF search engine, type in "German hammy Worcs"

The duke of Mecklenberg died in 1690 without any direct heirs, so a nephew and a cousin squabbled over who should inherit this dukedom in N.E. Germany. The solution in 1701 was to divide it into two new, smaller, duchies, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, where this coin comes from, and Mecklenburg-Strelitz.

Both duchies were absorbed into the German Empire in 1871

FF (Friedrich Franz) coins are kind of my older bread and butter coins since I live in Mecklenburg and most of 19th century this country was ruled by Grand Dukes with this name.
Best greetings from Germany

German coin which I guess was brought home as a memento and worn as a pendant.

Found 8 inches deep on pasture near Hutton Rudby, North Yorkshire.
