xp Deus waterproof
I have used my Deus completely submerged and it works well. It was a bit of a pain getting the cable adjusted properly though once you get it, it is sweet. Jerry is that shrink tube or tape in your pic? When I use shrink it doesn't seem to transmit. I bought a waterproof cell phone bag that has a protruding wire for ear buds which I use instead of the back phones. I didn't want to take a chance getting them wet.

Thanks liam. I have no idea why it posted twice. As long as the coax is secured to the coil and the shaft so it doesn't move around there is no problem with the detector picking it up. Try it dry first. Also some advice. Don't let any moisture get to the bare wire of the coax. Even a small amount of moisture will create problems. I had one that got a small amount of water in it, I trimmed it and resealed it. Still wouldn't work. I had to let it dry for a couple of days before it would work.
I think it works well in water. I just spent 4 hours with my hunting buddy who also uses a Deus. We hunted a lake that has been hunted hard in the past. We pulled out probably 250 targets between us though no gold. The Deus is just as fast in water as it is on land.

I made basic aerial up for my son and it works just fine.
Went to the local TV shop and purchased a 2 meter coaxial extension lead £2.95.
Cut the end fittings off and removed the outer plastic covering and the braided earth wire for 30 mm to expose the inner insulated core wire.
Plastic ties to the coil as previously pictured and the other end tucked behind the controller in its protective pouch.
It works just fine without any additional fancy work and the controller can be carried in a pocket etc.
Cheap, cheerful and a little kit carried in the Deus carry bag for use at all times.
Jerry.

Thank's will have a go at making up this mod as would like to try out on one of my water sites.
As to use on the wet sand on beach it does work ok but you do have to lower the sens and i think this is making the Deus loose depth.I have only found one coin on the wet sand but lots of deep ally can bits found it to be fine on the dry sand. Did bury my gold ring on the wet sand at 8 inch and had a good signal that you would dig.
Sens 70
Disc 10
GB manual 28
Wet Beach on
Pumping on wet beach would not lock on tried all over the beach so i set in in manual to 28.

I think you are forgetting Liam the Deus is a motion detector so only picks up metal it passes over.liamnolan wrote:Yes, I also wondered, LiamRALLYMAKER wrote:Does the detector not pick up the copper in the coax !!!
It is the same as any other motion detector that is not wireless like the good old GMP if the coil wire is fixed and does not flap about then the coil does not see it, it is only when the coil wire is slack and waves about that you get falsing (not realy falsing as the coil wire is a legitimate target for the machine)
Hope this explains mate
