Some areas seem to be quicker in treasure cases than others,my last case was done and dusted within a year here in North Yorkshire.
It was maybe quicker though , as myself and the landowner waived the fee and donated the said, gold item to the Yorkshire Museum.
Maybe these maps and legends?

Four and half years is a ridiculous amount of time and totally ujustifieable, and unfortunately worst it's going to get with the changes in what classed as treasure and cut back in staffing levels. Whats the point in introducing a system that is almost unworkable. [84/]

Great find and well done for hanging in there [81/] [81/]

I have been advised only to take in extraordinary treasure finds..... I don't know what's happening behind the scenes with the new Treasure rules I suspect they are inundated with work.

??? What do they define as 'extraordinary' ? If we find an item we think might qualify as treasure, but is not significant / rare / out of context for its location, are they really suggesting that we keep it quiet and ignore the law as it stands? The latest Treasure Act has created additional work for the FLO / Coroner and maybe they need to have a re-think, but until adequate resources are put in place or the law changes, we have to abide by it....
