it gave me a signal, i dug it and a thought, it looks a bit iffy does that, so when i cut it open all the lead beads dropped out. Seems a bit strange to tape all them up in such a way. :-/

I'd give them a wide berth until you find out for sure what they are. Look like something smuggled out of somewhere. I remember when my bro lived in Brighton he would find parcels along the beach once in a while washed up by the rough sea's. They drop them offshore to be picked up later by divers.

do they all have a small hole through them, if so they have come off one of the fishing boats, I have found lengths of fishing line with them spaced every few inches, Not being into fishing know idea how they are used but ask in the harbour next time your down

Hi, these were wrapped in a oily rag and then taped up but there's no slits or holes in them to suggest split shot, but like Nev says it could be for something more sinister as a lot of trouble has been taken to wrap it up. Caviar idea sounds spot on
