my advice is FORGET the 1p's
FORGET the 2p's
DEFFO FORGET the 5p's unless you have good eye sight
forget the 10p's
maybe dig the 50p's
£1 coins you are talking
£2 coins are the business!!!

My old hoover detector has a nasty habit of pulling out the decimal half pennies from 12 inches under!!!!
learn yr machine and learn to leave the pennies for the kids!!!! after all they get the enjoyment and you save yr back!!!!

That is sound advice mate, Thanks! :)

Unfortunately I haven't reached the stage yet where I can tell the difference. If I get a double beep it gets dug, lol.
I'm sure in time I'll get to know the detector, as you say.
Hopefully after the full day session next week I'll know her a fair bit more.

it should work fine on dry sand prob no good on wet sand better using a pi out on the clay mate as for permission yeah just knock on door or chat down farm just say can i have a go with this bring detector with you say you will show farmer what you find and what he want to do about gold silver items ie 50 etc ::g

the guys at my club dont believe that I have emptied the local beach ...
I keeep going back just to prove um wrong!!!!
and now that its empty I go back for just one thing
to enjoy the scenery!!!!!!!!
