Alot of people i have met with the Deus don't hold it in the air long enough when turning on, wait for the coil to stop flahing and all should be ok

Very important point busterhamer
I have just checked how long before the coil stops its fast calibration flashing until it settles into its normal flash mode and it was at least 10 seconds after I switched it on

I always wait for the flashing to stop and then see what figure the meter comes up with.
If it comes up with say 55 to 80 I'm usually in for a good day lol!
If it says 98 or 05 it normally results in a bad day hahaha! Is that superstition or what
I've only 2 weeks to wait to test it on stubble so I'll let you know what the outcome is

This is the thing I would of thought many are not aware of this and should be maybe pointed out in the manual. I have sent another email over to Alain at XP

Hi mrix,
It states in the manual for V3.0 .... ("Starting Up", page 8, figure number one).. Switch on the remote control (after extending stems and holding the coil
away from the ground and any metal)
Wow, what have XP done, the amount of problems I have read all over the Internet with the software on the Deus at the moment, I know many have downgraded back to the older version, this may shed some light on the issues you think for the cost of the machine they would have spent more time testing this out before releasing the update ! I would be well paranoid that I could be missing loads of targets while out detecting I hope it gets sorted out soon

I think XP have done a superb job making one of the best machines even better.
I updated to V3.0 (standard coil) as soon as it was launched and ventured out on some pasture and ended up finding at least 35 pre-decimal coins. Three of these were silver sixpences that I thought were under the coil as the signal was so strong. They were actually much deeper at 8 - 9 inches.
Another signal was a "screamer" and this was a 3" copper disc at a depth of EIGHTEEN (measured) inches! My DB couldn't believe this as his Minelab couldn't even detect it!

Hi Paul, I understand it mentions that but it does not mention for what period of time while the Deus re-calibrates, on checking you will see it actually takes around 10+ seconds for the coil to stop flashing fast while calibrating to the normal operational pulses, you also have to be at least 15inches away from any metal. Many might just stick the coil in the air, switch on then straight to the ground etc which could cause problems?

Well spotted! ................It must be that I loved watching the lovely flashing bit lol!!!
Yep... at least 20 flashes whilst it's calibrating (that's when the number thing comes up on the screen lol)

Hi Dave, from my personal view it appears to me people / members have learned the V2 inside and out and have become really at one with their machines but now a pretty huge update has been released which appears to be a completely New learning curve which for many has not enough gains / advantages so why bother etc, I can fully understand that
I on the other hand have not spent hundreds of hours mastering the machine so am very happy to stick with the V3.1 or later B-)
Its really is a great machine, fully wireless, extremely light weight and performs very well B-)
There is honestly nothing negative I can say about it
Cheers

I have to agree with mrix on this the machine is fantastic XP have not created any problems since they released V3.1 , you have always had to switch the machine on at waist height or just above and only after extending the stems . So nothing new there i told Glen about this some time ago as he was turning his on with the coil on the ground I think the only problems that people are having with the machine are user problems ( sorry to be so blunt ) but i used mine with V2.0 for over a year and i did do hundreds of hours with it, but the transition from V2.0 to V3.01 is not that hard , and the results with it are just as rewarding
At the end of the day It really is no big issue because you have the option with the software to revert back to V2 if you wish to do so which only takes minutes and is a very simplistic procedure B-)
Cheers

I'm once again with Jerry on this subject... and as mrix says you have a choice.... I'm sticking with the 3.1 . as Jerry I've had mine a long time to discover what its able to do, and what its saying... persevere folks, the light will come on....

Really, they must think we do these things in a sterile environment surrounded by plastic!!!!!
