Hi all,

It turned out to be a strange day in a number of ways. First of all it was the first time I have been out detecting without dodging showers and howling wind or freezing to death. I also found a twenty pence piece about five minutes before hitting the ring, which is the only decimal coin I had not found before. I made all the finds of the day (ring, six decimals and a heart shaped piece of junk jewellery) in one section of beach between the groynes. When I later searched the sections either side I found nothing but junk!

All the finds we're towards the edge of a shingle bar just before the surface becomes wetter and predominantly sandy on the surface. I tend to avoid going further down than this because the 150 starts to false noticeably on the wetter stuff. All things considered though the Ace has certainly proved it's worth despite not being an ideal beach machine I guess.

Strangely enough all the ribbing that I normally get from the wife and kids about my hobby seems to have stopped since that ring turned up.....can't think why ! ;)

All the best,

Ian from Redhill

Well done on the gold ring.

I also use a Garret 150 on Worthing beaches and get teased by the wife and kids about my collection of only low decimal coinage too

I got a 50p coin there yesterday and under the all metal mode and 3 bars sensitivity it registered as a strong pull tab signal. Worth going for all metal mode if you can..
