This raises another question for a beginner like myself - when do you stop digging and give it up as deep iron?

I have got down to about 12 inches before, with a strong signal still bleeping but pinpointer still not sounding off at all. I have been advised that you really need to give up at that stage? Obviously there is a limit to how close to Australia you can sensibly dig without upsetting the landowner or losing a small child in the hole (I usually have 5 year old twins in tow!)?

If I start to dig, I go all the way.. But by law we are not allowed to dig under the "culture layer" the cultivated layer.. Then we have to call the Archies.. But sometimes the iron will show itself (here I have sand) and the rust colour the sand way out..

When you see what is giving you the signal :D
In the end tho you do need to give yourself more time learning the Deus, as ONE MONTH is nowhere near enough time.
Also you say you have only been detecting for two month's in total, you can't run before you can walk so my advise to you is dig everything until you get to know what your machine is telling you ::g
It will come, you just have to give it time and a little faith (you have the machine to do it with :D ) ;) :)
