I use a full Deus as a back up machine and for stubble, to be honest I find the pre set programs more than ample for my needs, I have tried a few custom programs and have found them to be far to noisy and are really only produced for specific sites by the original tweaker etc. The idea of doing the lite version is to bring the machine to a wider audience with the cheaper price. I know a few who have got this then added the control unit at a later date as funds permit.

More than one experienced Deus user has also told me to stick to the default programs until you have learnt the machine as well, I have only used mine half a dozen times and have now stuck with those recommendations. I have to admit I love Deus fast as the recovery speed is great, all be it at some expense of depth. But then I have a CTX for depth lol 8-}

I like you are new to the game and decided after consideration to go with the light version with back phones. The standard programmes are great on the machine deus fast has accounted for most of my finds on my local pasture, my friend also has had great finds with his on bASIC 1. I have used it for a couple of months and it is so light and easy to pick up, that to me is its greatest feature.Swing it all day and you won't get tired. i have now got an understanding of tones and signals and have just purchased a remote, a good buy that ended up cheaper than buying the package all new! I feel i can now experiment a bit more with a greater understanding. If you change your mind you will also end up at the second hand market getting near enough what you have paid. Play for a few months as you are, buy a remote later and then if its not what you wanted sell it and lose less than £200. win win

Nope, my rant (small) is that it appears that the deus lite isnt quite what I had hoped it would be.
Especially when you consider that the brains which operate machine are contained within every coil, ready to go, regardless of which version you buy.

I think Im going to take the advice given by 'cherryhunter' and buy the full Deus from the museum. http://www.themuseum.co.uk/product-GB.asp?id=3101

Anyway thanks to all who gave constructive advice..... and 'wick'

The brains that operate the machine are in your head, the circuitry inside the coil sends the signal to the brain, it's man and machine working in harmony ::g

The Deus lite has most of the expert features within the menu.
Tip : As you know within the menu there are 10 factory programs, some have different setting built in as standard. For example, program 2 Gold Maxx Power has a pre-set silencer setting of 2, program 3 Deus fast has a pre-set silencer setting of -1.
So when making a custom program choose the best platform from the factory pre-set programs to start with, then make your adjustments and save into an empty memory slot.

Got my Deus lite 2 weeks ago from LP leisure , great service and price would recommend .

Also ,still learning the Deus but first impressions are good the weight is so light . I have tried P1,P2 and P3 and P1 the best now P3 seems to give away some depth .
I 3d printed a waist band to hold the headphone control box so I can see the numbers . Once I sure of the tones will just use headphones .

Stick it in basic one, disc however low you want, change the freq when you want.
If its there the deus will sniff it out,

Deus fast does not = swing like a banshee as seen at a rally I went to couple weeks back.
lads were nearly running with the deusm not the way to do it.

Thanks, I like the idea of running the discrimination as low as possible and then being able to customize the tones so that ferrous objects give me a sound that i have pre-set.
