I genuinely woke up grumpy this morning, and then I remembered why. I am with oxgirl on the remote, there is value in the remote if you like to fiddle on the go, Where yesterday I felt pleased with my latest acquisition, today I definitely feel like someone has nicked the jam out of my donut.

I am in two minds about updating the software as I am very new to the deus and do not feel the urge to fiddle too much with programmes at the moment and in the videos I have seen Gary does not “big up” altering the TX power instead saying that altering this does little for depth and just drains the batteries and better depth is found in the sensitivity settings.

I did wonder from the positive reports from NOX Users that XP may go the route of simultaneous multi frequencies (SMF), competition from manufacturers to produce a top seller is always good, it keeps them on their toes and is only good for the users, whatever machine we choose and use

I wonder if the XP V5 may in future incorporate SMF, with software anything is possible perhaps the coils are ready for this that's why they've been developed

Regards Steve
I would suggest any detector manufacturer wanting to do genuine multi-frequency would need a very good legal team, and its probably why XP have been & remain single frequency. ::g ::g

So thinking about it, if the price of used 11" is going to drop, should I go for one of those as they are still good coils over the 11" new coils :-/

My land is pretty quiet and I like the coverage of an 11" but I am not sure the difference will be that great on the HF.

Might pay to keep me £££££ as I'd prefers the dues shaft to the wiggle wobbly nox ....bring it on and hopefully work on white coil ummmmmm we'll see B-)

I’m a bit confused at the moment with this latest announcement. What is the difference between the new HF 9” coil and the newly announced 9” coil? I hope Gary does a video soon on it all as he speaks in layman’s terms that I understand! :))

The hf coils start at 15khz and go up to 55 or 80 (depending on which one you choose). So they do not offer low frequencies. Most people operate them at around 28khz.

These new coins offer a range of low frequencies and go up to 28khz so you get the benefits of the lower frequencies (more depth, better for bigger targets) up to 28khz where smaller targets can be more easily located (in theory). Plus you get a boost feature on the lowest frequencies. Perfect for getting more depth.

Hope that helps.

I’ve just got off the phone to Regton’s. They hope to have them in stock in the next two weeks and definitely by the end of the month.
Apparently they wil update their website as soon as they are available to order.
I’m definitely going to have the 11” version.

Am i correct in saying that you cant update the software with just the headphones, and will need access to a remote to upgrade (despite these very welcome additions for us Lite users)?? :)
As the Germans 'might' say:-

"SchvinginbleepindigginundFindenstuff!!!"

new XP Deus/11in coil: 1 silver sixpence 1 foot down!! most impressive.

I'm afraid so. Your local dealer will help. Or find someone with a controller ::g

Search on YouTube for official videos from Gary Blackwell on previous software update advice and step by step tutorials so you can see how it's done.

geoman wrote: Wed Jul 04, 2018 9:09 pm Nice to see upgrades. However if you use the Deus Lite you are stuffed. I bought my second one with an 11 inch coil a few months ago so not best pleased that XP have abandoned the Deus Lite user.

I am not one for remotes and number readouts - if it bleaps i dig it.
How? The headphones are getting additional free menu functions - perfect for the lite user. The new coils don’t need the remote, anymore than the existing ones do. So you’ve lost me, or have I missed something :-/

I do recognise that upgrading the software is a pain without the remote but you have friends that can help I’m sure ::g
The problem is getting the Lite and Headphones updated. Not wanting to appear a Billy No Mates, none of my detecting friends have the Deus with a remote so i have no opportunity to get the updates. Newbury is too far to go to get LP Detectors to update them hence my comment.

I am sure there are people here who can help. I had not done it for others before until someone in my club needed help to update his coil to match a new set of headphones.

You just need to be the patient sort of person who when they lose all their favourite programs as they have to roll back their version can smile and say, at least I helped someone :)) Especially when you don't have the programs written down somewhere......

Geoman, you have detecting friends right here on this very forum!
I’m sure there’d be someone on here in your neck of the woods who would be prepared to help you out.

It appears the plan is to release both the coil and the software at the end of July. Directly from Gary Blackwell.

Hope there’s no delays though 8-|

Correct, but I have got someone with the remote that could help me. Maybe also the shop where I bought it.

I will wait for the point one bug fix before I upgrade my software. Also I am in two minds about getting a new x35 11” coil. I know i don’t need it but the gear tart in me wants it.
