My 2 council permissions are 2 areas of common land, so people walking their dogs etc are a regular thing. How I'd love the relative privacy of a farm permission.
Your lucky to get permissions from the council.
most if not all have a total blanket ban on detecting.
Leeds City council do anyway.

I don't usually have problems with folks when I'm detecting, there are a couple of public footpaths on my permissions & every so often they stop for a chinwag, Another farm has camping & caravanning & agan the campers are great however I was once accosted by 2 mounted members of the local hunt who had been storming across the fields.

They tried to tell me that my presence had caused them problems & as a result the hounds had got confused and lost the scent of their quarry.........I politely pointed out that I actually had permission to be on the land and that I was well aware that they didn't & they rode off snorting.

My comments were backed up soon after when they were chased off the farm by the landowner & his brother in a Landy & 2 ATV's.............who were none to pleased at them riding across the crops! d; d;

I used to get asked a lot of the usual questions but a well placed finger pointing at a sack full of coal draped over my left shoulder seemed to answer the questions,cd ::g

there are two approaches

.. avoid eye contact, pretend you are deaf, and tattoo the word "hate" across your or knuckles

OR

..... smile, say hello, and share you finds with anyone who shows interest...

the choice is yours ... Happy hunting
Imagine there is no heaven, only sky above us.
