Cheers everyone!

I am very happy, a day of firsts and now i dont need another of them type so off my list he he. I could not believe it when i found my first coin from near me too.... beautiful condition it boggles the mind! They are trapped on/sometimes IN a clay bed that stretches the entire 6 miles or so of the beach but the conditions have to be just right :-)

Work now for a week..... all good things have to come to an end :-)

Good luck everyone!

Silver ones can be ok though. You've certainly got lucky with those lovely coins.
I have been an avid beach detectorist for about 23 years and coin collector for over 50 years hihosilver and as you say old coins usually come off manky. If I had not searched Fileylad's beach myself I would have been suspicious as well. But that is the only beach I have had such old coins come off in such a good condition, they were dug off the clay bed that has had sand stripping off the beach for nearly a year now. Believe me they have been dug off a beach.

I must add that is not always this productive it really depends on what the tide gives one day all this and now im told the beach has an extra foot of sand on it....... a no go for a few weeks me thinks :-L

I have to admit guys......as much as i love other people finding things and them been as happy as i am..... (im sometimes envious, never jealous!) i would like to think that people use a bit of discretion as to how many people outside the forum they tell..... as this is my local beach i bumped into a guy a month or so ago that said he was bringing his club to the beach........ duh its all about respect for the locals! lol

not aimed at anyone on the forum....a mistake i made with someone i know locally lol

Hi FL you have to remember that anyone can read this forum not just members so do not be surprised if you find car loads coming over this weekend. ;;z

I was on your beach a few months ago when I had four detectorists approach asking were the gold coins were being found, none of them were from this forum they were there out of greed.

I no longer say where any of my finds come from, its a shame but I have spent years learning to read beaches and will help anyone I meet on the beach who asks for advice but no longer am I putting it on an open forum. After all how many land searchers will tell you in which field they found that gold stater :-/

Think alot of people go to the beach because they think its easy pickings , which we all know its not
Alot of hard work and hours goes into making those finds with blank days way out numbering the good days :(
So well done filey lad that a cracking day , hope you have more like it ::g

I don't even know where your beach is even though it's mentioned. :D No offence. rl; Not good with geography at all, or anything else for that matter. =)) Even if others flock to that beach it doesn't mean they can read the beach properly or show up at the right time for the tides or when there's less sand or muck covering the goodies. I'm sure you will pull out many more over the years when the conditions are right. ::g

Nail on the head mate.
Digging in the rocks and hard pack is bloody hard work.
Working the clay at fileys like going on a ten mile run.
still though, makes it all worthwhile when the goodies pop up :) :) :)
