""""""""""Total of 35 frequencies – 5 main frequencies with 7 wide offsets 3.7 to 4.4kHz, 7.1 to 8.4kHz, 10.5 to 12.4kHz, 15.2 to 17.8kHz, 23.5 to 27.7kHz""""""""

Arnt finding nowt with elip hf frequency s so won't b bothering with the x35 got 9inch if I want lower stuff, run it on 8khz for a long while as a mate woz doing great with it to no avail....just rubbish land and no luck I suppose :( on plus side only 1 coil instead of 2 , I suppose they could just do 1 coil to go from 4 to 68khz or whatever the hf goes to but would b less ££££ for them ?

I think I'll wait until the V5 update is released, and then try that with the current coils before making expensive decisions.

By the time they release V5 I should have my new test bed completed, along with the old one, to try it out on. I hope V5 will work out well, but otherwise I'll just stick with V3.2, which is pretty darn good anyway ::g

Would be interesting to have a range of Deus's or is it Dueses loaded with V2, V3, V4 and V5 just to compare the signals, as we know Liam won't shift away from V2, big respect for him for doing that, if ain't broke why try and fix it.

The V5, from what we’ve heard so far is just to give extra menu options on the headphones and to add the software to run the X35 coils. It doesn’t sound like it’ll make any difference to the existing coils. Unless they add in something else they aren’t telling us about yet.

According to Gary the X35 will run on different software to the other coils.

Now that would be quite interesting as updates don't usually go backwards? :D

Thanks. I'm sure if there were any major changes they would have been mentioned by XP in their pre-release info, so I'm expecting V5 to be pretty much indistinguishable from V4.1. I'll give it a good trial on the testbeds when it's released though, and see how it fares vs. V3.2 ::g

So, what are people’s opinions as to which of the nine coils is likely to be best for wet beach detecting?

TIA

think theyre into gimmicks rather than new tech .i wont be investing in new coils without major improvements as i reckon its all marginal stuff .. if the gold prog dont see any targets theres nowt there..imo

If you are interested in one of these new coils then you might be interested to hear Regtons (the UK official XP agent/ dealer) have confirmed both the coil and software is expected to be released together at the end of July. Other sellers are quoting August as I suppose they have to wait till Regtons distribute their orders.

XP are in danger of putting people off. Too many choices can confuse customers. Apple sacked Steve Jobs. First he did when he came back was to prune the product line. Apple then went from strength to strength.

I don’t think the new coils will offer too many choices in the long run as they will replace the old ones rather than offering them along side the old one.

There will obviously be some overlap at first.

They might just prune the mk 1 black coils and only have the hf and new coils

That's exactly what will happen. All Deus sold from September will have the X35 coils.

Those of us that have the original black coils are left with the decision to upgrade at considerable cost, or just stick with what we've got. Some sort of trade-in deal would be a nice touch from XP, but I doubt they'll offer it.
