With regards to GB, I use "Tracking" virtually all the time as it handles most conditions with ease.
I've used the pumping method and its a very simple process, however, once set you've got to remember that that's it -set! No probs when the area to be searched is uniform in GB conditions.

You dont need to pump it if you are using tracking.Just turn it on and off you go. ;)

Looking at all the Pre-set programmes GB is set to a manual and 90 by default for all of them. Why have XP set the Pre-Set programmes as Manual by defualt 90 and you recomend Tracking ?

Thanks

Forgot to mention....... the manual states that 90 for GB is the norm under most circumstances, if you drop to 85 it warns that you will start to pick up hot rocks, pottery etc.

Using tracking, the Deus will go down to 73 or lower on its own!!!! As soon as you get over mineralisation, it will up the balance to 90 or whatever the balance should be :D

when turning the detector on make sure you have it extended into your working position that means do not have the stem folded in its travelling position a piece of advice from regtons also a serious question and an opinion from the deus users please when switching the detector on in the manual it sort of shows you to switch the control box on and then gives you a diagram of the headphones to switch on next i always put the headphones on first so they are ready to take on board the data when you switch the control box on is there a right way round please

i have to go out and do some more tests today but my overall thoughts at the moment is that the manual is not explicit enough in some areas and does not push home some of the strengths that the deus is capable of giving us. As detectorists they have been built in but not explained no good dribbling on as only tests out there in the field will proove or disproove my point but if i manage to get some positive answers i will be very excited

Hello Sugar

Yep, agree and also would like to refference the XP Website link here for some guidlines of what different settings do and how they affect the detector. http://www.xpmetaldetectors.com/xpforum ... m.php?f=13" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I would like to know as allways what your findings are please. Today started to be a bad day with a water pipe leak upstairs and still waiting for a plumber but water is turned off. So looks like I won't be getting out today AGAIN !

So far I have found 3 silver roman coins and 12 hammered coins since I brought my xp deus last month. On pasture and ploughed land that I have done to death with no good finds. I have just used the standerd GOLD MAX POWER program and DEUS FAST program! Changed no settings just used the standered settings.
This is my metal detector
There are many like it, but this one is MINE.
My metal detector is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life.
My metal detector without me is useless. Without my metal detector, I am useless....

Hello King cnut

This is what Nigel at Regton told me. He said the pre-programmed settings G-Maxx & Fast are ideal and increasing any settings is overkill. If anything reducing a little bit to suit you & the land your on.

Nigel also stated G-Maxx is actually Deeper than G-Maxx Power.

Going to try mine for a hour with G-Max & Fast thanks to rubbish weather for the last week.

Cheers

Hello Sugar

Are you using the Standard Stock coil or big Coil. Personally i would concentrate on the Standard coil as supplied with the Deus before jumping to the big coil.

Cannot comment yet on what you have just asked about as I have a RMA on my Control box & Coil tomorrow with Regtons. There is unknown problem with my remote being unable to re- download the v2 software. It hangs at 3/4s and then freezes.
