Keep at it pav, took me a couple of months with the C4PI,to strike "Gold n Silver.
Half the battle is Knowing n reading your Beach.luckly for me the east coast lads were on hand to give me advice.
I know what you mean about giving up digging at 12"etc.but some times, especially in wet sand, I found it was a tiny bit of wire,or even small lead shot.moving in the wet sand.just keep at it n it'll come togther.
you may find it an advantage looking for areas of beach that has clay ,not too deep under the sand.
Then your "finds can't go any deeper.my finds in last couple of weeks have been no deeper than 1/4"
on clay, just a covering of sand ,gravel.BEST of LUCK.

The last 3 trips have produced coins! And two of the big £2 ones!

Well I have pretty much nailed the coin digging now with another bunch of Pre and Post decimal coins. I have accepted the digging of ring pulls. Amazed at how many pre decimal coins can still be found. I guesse it's a waiting game now for something special.

All the coins go in a pot for the wife's eternity ring. She is now seeing there is some hope as I have doubled the coin pot total in just the last few days.

This is my final post on this thread (you may be glad to hear!). I would like to thank Tomo for telling me the gold would come if I stuck with it. Iron monkey for telling me to keep at it. Bainsey for his guidance in searching out the heavy stuff. Eastcoaststu for telling me the lead weights were a sign. Nevntl for confirming the gems would come in time. Dirtypaws and Slippery for local encouragement and help with the Sov. Machinist for his IDs. Anubis , Midas, Housed and Fern for telling me to keep at it. Sure sight for coin cleaning tips and Dynamite for seeing my finds were getting better.

So I have lost count of days but May 6th finally resulted in a hoard of OLD lead weights. I had a fair collection and I could only remember the advice from Bainsey and Eastcoaststu. A few coins came up including a half penny and then a six pence.

Then another signal. I had it on variable tone and to be honest didnt think any more of the signal than anything I had dug. What ever it was ended up in my sand scoop so changed by grip to start shaking the sand out and there it was. Did not look Gold but it was a ring. I wiped the ring and it started shining. Spotted the hallmark and grinned. I searched the area again and after 3 hours of MD the sun set. Happy Dayz!

Thanks for sticking with the thread. It would have been difficult without your encouragement and advice. I have done it and the thread is now complete.

Forget the rainbow. It's the fishing weights you must find!

Well found Pav, nice looking ring there for your first one. We knew you could do it, far to many have a couple of goes then pack in but you have put the hours in and have been justly rewarded.

You will have learnt a lot about the beach in the process so hopefully your next one will come soon. ::g

Well done Pav, your hard work and patience has paid off! Can't beat the thrill of that first bit of gold. That should be a good few quid towards your wife's eternity ring - or perhaps you could fine one of them next... ::g .
