Thank you Mr Ferret ... ::g
You have been getting some really super finds lately, made me arrange an outing tomorrow, even if I have to skirt around the fields, come on you bloody tractors and combine harvesters!

Some members are not bothering to read the guidelines on how to make a good ID request topic and their topics have had to be redone. Its no use moaning if you don't bother to read these topics that help members in all sorts of ways. They are up there as a sticky so that they will always be visible. Its not only ID topics, its people posting in the wrong sections, adding too many pics or not using photobucket or similar, slagging off other machines, being abusive in their posts, using swearwords and the list goes on. This is a forum and not Twitter, so an ID request for instance on here is a bit different as we want members to enjoy reading the topics and it takes only a few more seconds to add the info asked for. If people don't like that system, then please post on FB or elsewhere. To those who have been submitting their ID topic in a reasonable way, THANK YOU!!! Cheers, Liam ::g

For my part this is now firmly lodged on my wall, next to the computer ::g

Put up a bad ID request myself, and then spent the rest of the evening redoing bits of it, do it first time, do it right I guess is the lesson, well it was for me!

It really helps me to read all the info on the finds, helps me learn and find, so not doing it was entirely a plonker moment, keep up the good ID's chaps, I for one appreciate the effort.

Craig, that is TOP CLASS and I wish I had the IT skills to do it!! I am afraid I will have to copy & paste it a million times. I know that to many members who just want a quick ID, the HAMMY CODE can seem a bit OTT but please remember that this is a FORUM and that means people like to read posts and debate the issues. The more info you add, the better we can all enjoy your success and its good for you also, later on down the line, to look back on a top class find, backed up by lots of friendly ID suggestions and members appreciations for a job well done, Liam ::g :;@

Think these needs a re-visit...

A lot of id requests coming through recently from old members as well as newbies
with very little info, no scales, poor pics etc.
Personally I'm rubbish at ID'ing but I like to have a go & even if I cant help, I'm still interested in how the finds came about, machines used, soil conditions etc. etc.
Also, I'm sure this extra info really helps newbies to get an idea of how the finds come up.
Happy hunting everyone ::g

Thanks Iain, things imroved for a bit, so well done to those posters asking for the ID service who submitted some decent levels of information. Those posts that fall well short will be removed and I do not have the time to chase everyone around, so please do MAKE SURE THAT YOUR ID REQUEST HAS ALL THE INFO ON GOOD PICS, SCALE AT LEAST. Other information is also of importance so as Iain says, read the HAMMY CODE or other topics so that we don't allow this great FREE service to lower its standards, Liam ::g :;@

Hi all, if you wish to ask for an ID on an item then please read the guidance on here as regards the information you need to supply. It takes only a minute more to get things done correctly.
Any ID topics that fall well short of what is needed will be removed, so take the time to get things right, Liam ::g
On the other side of the coin, if you spot someones ID topic that is really well done and has lots of good info, don't forget the THANKS button and show your appreciation ::g ::g ::g ::g ::g ::g

There is a really good article in Treasure Hunting this month on how to take good pictures. Lots of hints and tips which may help get a clear picture.

I know I keep posting this link but I think this is one of the best scales I have found.

Hi all, one ID topic already removed as it had very little info, so please do read the Hammy Code and understand that if you do not provide as much information as possible, then your ID request may be removed. It takes just an extra minute or less to add the info, so lets do things right and give the forum members a better chance to help YOU, all the best, Liam ::g :;@
