C-Scope CS4PI

Post by Tarot »

Hi Everyone

I have many years of field detecting experience, but have recently ventured out onto the beaches. I currently use a Minelab Sovereign, but am interested in trying a PI machine. I would keep the Sovereign and two other VLF machines for land use, and only be using the PI on the beach.

I have searched the internet, and there is very little in the way of user reviews about the CS4PI. From what I have read, it can detect very deep, is lightweight and the price is very good.

Does any member use the CS4PI, and what is your opinion of its performance and use on UK and European beaches (Pros & Cons).

Thanks for the reply Old Jeffers, you got yourself a bargain on your new machine. I was interested to hear that you could tell the difference between ferrous and non ferrous targets by the signal response. One of my concerns was having no discrimination and diggings lots of iron. I would be pleased if you could keep me updated on your progress, either here or via PM.

Perhaps some more users will tell us about their experiences using the CS4PI, and we can both learn a little more.

It has been a few months since starting this thread. I wondered how Old Jeffers and Daviel36, were getting on with their recently purchased CS4PI's. I am still considering getting one to use on my beach trips, and would also like to hear reviews from other board members, who use or have used this machine.

Hi
as old Jeffers said it gives a good sharp tone on coins I have around 5 hrs in mine and it pulled in a few quid it loves pulling out copper coins. As I only have vlf machine it was useless on the wet and I intend doing the fill tidal half of my beach when the winter storms arrive. As for buying one I recommend it.

Hi Dolph

Thanks for the reply, and your opinion on the CS4PI. I realize you have very few hours on the machine, but what sort of depths are you achieving. Also can you identify some iron targets by the tone response, or are you digging lots of iron.

The tones I have found are if you hit a coin it's a crisp beep beep as you pass over it. Iron is more of a long tone unless it's a small iron target like a nail or screw then it's the same as a coin. Bit fustrating when it's iron but the depth is good. I was on a beach the other night and I was at least over a foot down but couldn't reach the target due to water flooding in and bringing sand into the hole but it was still saying it was in the bottom. Other digs easy one foot down. Deepest coin 8 inches came out as dropped yesteday 1971 2p. Get a good spade I get 6 inches down with first dig

totally agree dolph i got frustrated with mine ... had a good start with it... great depth .. but i was digging all the time .. false sigs too .. likes coal.. hotrocks ..etc not good pinpointing
OJ actually asked me about the 4pi falsing and i was like ,no its ok, but the more i used it the less i enjoyed it ..the more i fell in love with my cs3mx
and just a point it interfers with my garrett pinpointer, i had to turn the machine off every time i bent down and turned my pointer on ..or i got deafend lol and as you know dolph your up and down alot with the 4pi as it dose not descriminate .. nails bolts cans drums ..rolexes lol i wish

im not saying its a bad machine it has good points.. depth . but it wasnt for me and i gave the cs4pi every chance 20 trips over 5 month... im looking at the sov gt if i go near beaches again

and my cs3mx is great on dry sand right up to the wet line and everywhere else
cheers
