Hello all,
This came up on the beach last week. It was pretty crusty but cleaned up well.
It's a No.124 British fuze from a 2 pounder anti-aircraft 'pom pom' gun.
It's dated April 1925 and marked N GK, which I'm presuming is 'Navy' and George Kynoch of Birmingham? It's also marked 520 (?).
As you can see from the 303 bullet next to it , it's quite a tiddler! 52mm high x 32mm wide.
Looks identical to the earlier 121 which was widely used in WW1.
Any further info on the 124 would be very welcome.
Cheers,
Tim

Blimey - your 'before' and 'after' photos look a bit different! Just a comment on your excellent cleaning skills and research - I know virtually nowt about ordnance but hopefully some more interesting info will come up from the experts later

Mini drill, brass wire brush wheels and good ol' Brasso.

Fuzes aren't my strong point, but I think you're right with George Kynoch. The 'N' marking is certainly for Navy and '520' will be the lot number (or batch number). Interesting to have a 1925 date, with so many WW1 and WW2 dated ordnance around.
That really is an astonishing bit of cleaning! Super job.
Best regards,
Simon

Thanks Simon,
It scrubbed up better than I expected.
I was surprised at the date too, thought it was going to be WW1. Probably from the old garrison ranges nearby.
Thanks again.
