Hi Jim, and welcome to the forum. [81/]

As a newcomer to the hobby, I would recommend taking a look at our Important Information section. You will find most of the main points that you will need to know about the hobby there.

Finding somewhere to legally use a detector is the most difficult part for most people, and we have some advice on how to go a about finding that all-important permission HERE.

There's more information to be aware of when first starting out in the hobby (in the blue panel on the lef)t but this particular link will be helpful in the initial stages of your detecting journey....
