Setting up beach program on the E-Trac

Post by shotputtman »

Evening all
Sitting in the lounge driving the kids nuts i have been playing with settings, and selected the coin mode. While sitting here waving coins at the head it misses out the copper coins as they are down in the black discrimination area so i have had another play and set up a beach mode of my own that accepts all UK coins, gold and silver as i live about 500m from the beach and my youngest enjoys digging ;)

Thought this was the way to go for a bit of fun but then realised that it picks up all bits of junk like ringpulls etc.

Am i trying too hard with the settings and should i get out to learn the detector first?
This detector is so different from the Laser i had before...
Always happy to listen to advice

Yes unfortunatley ring pulls register the same as gold! I use the 2 tone ferris setting on beach or land. Dig the high tone and ignore the grunt. This Is a good place to start learning ::g

Dont forget that certain items like Roman bronze's be it brooch's or coins etc and small hammys Can Dip below the 2 tone ferrous line thus giving an iron grunt

the settings given you by Allectus are good for the beach to, just discriminate iron and dig the rest.
these setting work every where in the uk apart from some very tough ground.
its one of the beauties of the etrac that you dont need to worry that your not set up right if its done like that program. ::g

my advise dont go near ferrous its easy BUT you ARE going to miss loads of stuff.
