To alter ground balance numbers go to menu scroll to GND then use + and - buttons to select
Lower or Higher GB numbers. ::g

Hi there you need to go to program 10 gold field, find ground balance and pump the ground using the - button, this will give you a ground reading. Then go back to the program you want to use and find ground balance again and manually enter value. Default is 90 and for general detecting use 90 its the most stable, if the ground grab value is low for instance 60-70 which can happen and you find it too unstable adjusted to this value, manually start to come back up the values until you find it stable again. ::g

Here a picture from the manual.

Thanks

Cheers Greg,

When it says press the - does it mean hold it down while pumping? or do I lower in 1 by 1 in which case what am I listening for/how will I know what the right number is?

I was out today for the first time with it and just ran it in Deus Fast default settings and it seemed to work fine...but it would be nice to tweek it just right. Also can it not be set to automatically ground balance by tracking as I moved around from area to area?

Hi James, tracking cannot be accessed through the headphones, only on the remote. Saying that, if you know anybody with a remote and they are willing you can have the tracking switched on for a particular program.

Cheers Bob,

I was out at the WW rally today and tried to get my head around this. I started off in the corn stubble and flitted between GMP and Deus Fast just to get a feel for both settings and see which I felt was working best. Both seemed to work ok I think. I was getting quite a few spits, beeps and iron buzzes through but ignored those and only dugs the good two way signals most of which turned out to be little bits of gren copper and buttons. After a while I started to think about ground balancing and that perhaps I could improve the machines performance...

Now I think I got this right. I switched to P10 having found a clear path of ground in Basic1 ( i figure with a low discrimination this wasn't a bad pattern to use to find clean ground?) Then selected GND in P10 and held the - button and pumped the coil. The 90 immediately changed to around the mid 60s..and flitted from one number to another between say 63-66.... So I then changed back to GMP and changed the GND to 63 but found i was getting far more eratic spits and spurts through the head phones so gradually began to + the GND back up.... I found though that I didnt feel the Deus felt stable until i way back up in the 80s and in the end out of frustration ended up changing in all the way back to 90 and found myself thinking it better to leave things as they were!

Again... am i missing something? :-/

Two days in and the realisation that its going to take some time to master this machine is well and truely sinking in. On the other hand, although no hammies, I did dig lots of tiny buttons and air rifle pellets, so I guess I could say if the hammie had been there it would've found it....

I have had that as well, I get to around 85

some of the spits and spurts, I have dug a spade full out, and the signal is better had a nice roman coin out like this.
