XP Deus Screen Smashed - Votive axe head though
Shut my deus top box in the boot catch and smashed the screen - got hold of regtons and need to send it over. I'll keep you posted.
In the meantime I winkled out a votive axe head - can't be bad!!

What a bugger
Been doing a lot of reading on the Deus over the passed few weeks as I've just got one...
I'm sure I've read that XP can replace the screens however I imagine it won't be cheap...
First port of call I guess would be to contact Regton
Hope you get it sorted mate

I had one of the LCD lines go on my control box screen. Regtons sorted the fix under warranty by replacing the screen. Maybe your problem is related?

Board PCB Ref:D083 LCD including battery ( so you maybe can get it without if not need to change yet) cost I would say around 200 £..

Nigel at Regton, may well be able to help you if its just the screen thats damaged.
Been there last year with a cracked screen which was my own fault.
I sent it off on a Monday and received it back on the Friday.

I know how you feel ... when I was 20 I made my own fly rod, it cost me a small fortune, and was complex to get it 1000% perfect. Second time out I managed to mangle it in the spokes of my push bike. I am not ashamed to admit that I cryed!!!!

It will be interesting to see what is charged for the screen. I'm pretty sure it's an off-the-shelf model of display, 128 x 64 dot type, but with a flexi-rigid cable on it, which is not so common.
Similar displays sell for low prices, about £10:

The display in the Deus controller should have some part number / manufacturer info on it, it may be possible to track down a supplier of an equivalent part. Replacing it shouldn't be too hard, the cable just plugs into the main circuit-board, it's just the mechanical fixing issues that might be tricky, glue/ foam pads?

The blanks were hollow fibre glass ( this was before carbon fibre)... I needed help from the guy in the engineering department to get the handle to fit, and i put alot of effort into getting the whippings just right. Plus I didnt have any spare cash to buy a new one, so it was a disaster.Danzigman wrote:Splitcane or fibre.. I know how you must have felt.. Fly rods lovely but delicate tools.. What a cracking offer mate, thank you so much. Luckily I am off the detecting for the next few weekends as I have gigs so it may be ready in time. Might rack your brains later though at some stage as I'm thinking of adding the CTX to my Arsenal and it would be good to hear how a fellow deus user is getting on with it.
