Crown Estate Foreshore Maps / permission

Post by Saffron »

Currently on the Crown Estate site none of the foreshore maps are working. This looks like a recently introduced bug, I have just contacted them to report it and hopefully it will soon be resolved.

As I contacted them about the maps I also asked if they had any idea when a new registration system might be introduced (as they have been looking at it since about late last summer)

I will post response here.

Our seashore here recently changed from Crown to States of Jersey (Local Govt).

We have never needed permits but any finds of importance I usually put through Receiver of Wreck locally. Mainly cannonballs tbh.

Im wondering if they might start charging us in some way to detect, it seems the whole user pays thing is rearing its head in many areas here. We will see, not heard anything as of yet.

I had a reply back this afternoon (the next working day so credit to them on fast action and response ::g ).

"Thank you for your email and for making us aware of the below issue.

Fortunately the Maps page is back up and running, apologies for any inconvenience caused."

So as suspect problem was a simple bug in the page (which as far as I could see is unchanged).

As you might have noticed there was no response about an updated Crown Foreshore Permit registration process ;;z
So we just need to keep an eye on the page to see if anything is done to update the process.
Maybe I am just being optimistic but I do not think they will intorduce a charge, as cost of doing so and trying to police it would probably be more than they would get in.
