Hi everybody would really appreciate some advice from someone that has used a meter on the Sovereign GT.
have bought the Sovereign XS-2 meter second hand and plugged it all in and it reads 124 without being near any metal, i was expecting it being zero am i missing something.
Have heard iron reads minus? Meter reads also changes as sensitivity alters a little too.
Apparently its the 180 scale not the 550.
Any help / guidance really appreciated.
Thanks,

No D & B the meter will not be at zero, you have to use the calibrating knob on the
meter. Set up your GT as normal, then place a decent sized silver coin on the ground
( I use a florin ) turn the calibrating knob to half way, sweep the GT over the coin
then turn the calibrating knob to 180, the meter is now calibrated no need to do
anything more with the meter, now try a copper coin on the ground and sweep over
it and see if the numbers alter, try a pull tab, try with a nail.
Don't run sense to high or the numbers will be all over the place, and yes iron will
show a flash with the numbers.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Les, appreciate the quick response.
Yes got the gist on the calibration just surprised that whilst not reading anything it's measuring 124, surprised as I would have thought that something metal would have been in that range!
Out of interest what's your meter reading when not actually scanning anything?

There's a few different types of meter out there. The one pictured below works fine on a GT but it's not meant to be set to 0.

Current setup:
XP Deus v2.0, MINELAB Equinox 800 v1.7.5, GARRETT Pro-Pointer
MD'ing since Sept '11
