Well, that was annoying... (Charging)
Just bought my new Deus and charged it up as per the user manual. The coil flashed and fairly quickly showed a full charge (LED 3 seconds on, 3 seconds off) and the headphones module showed the coil fully charged and the module as nearly empty.
I charged up the module and just went to start it up and now the coil is showing as no charge, so I plugged it in the charger again and now its showing a solid LED (charging underway)
Anyone else seen this? Have I understood the manual correctly?
Thanks

It's possible the charging clip was not seated properly on the coil, best to make sure the clip is not touching anything under what the coil is resting on, put something under the coil so there's some space under the bottom of the clip. Make sure the coil cover is on also
make sure module is switched off too

Thanks Steve, it was clipped on OK and showing a full charge. Weird. Anyhow, all charged up now and after switching it on again, Im thinking maybe it just wasn't pairing with the coil, but that doesn't explain the flashing LED. Unless you get a false reading if the clip isn't on properly.

It could be the coil was discharging or the (I presume Li-ion) battery not fully charged.
Li-ion batteries are good but can be fussy... e.g. it can take a few charges to reach full capacity, there is inbuilt circuitry to handle the charge which can be fragile, if one of the combined batteries fails then the charger experiences high ( charged) voltage due to resistance against high charging current and shows charged when not, and the surface charge of the good batteries may still show full charge when first tested, etc. etc. etc. .
Would not expect poor battery from high end, but it is possible.
Only thing you can do really is keep recharging it and see if it eventually reaches a good capacity. I don't know that machine so cannot say if coil is able to discharge by itself.

Thanks, its still showing as fully charged this morning.
Ive used Li-Po's on other hobby niche / custom equipment and they were fussy there too. Supposed to not have a memory like the prior technology, but still seem to have a 'reset'

I think you have to dissconect the head phones first otherwise I’ve known the coil to show no charge this happened to a friend several times and when unplugged phones first All was good.

I still have the same problem occasionally - shows a full charge then when you get to the field it's only showing one or two bars.... this has been the subject of much previous discussion in the past. Some suggest it is a software issue - the battery actually is fully charged but the display is wrong - apparently re-uploading the software can cure the problem. I think this might be true - I've often started out with two bars showing, spent 4-5 hours detecting and it's still on two bars..
Secondly the infamous charging clip - it just doesn't seem to sit properly and may not be making proper contact. An improved version of the clip is available in the MDF store, which by all accounts is a great improvement on the original - I keep meaning to buy one.
Thirdly, charge the coil separately from the module and headphones - don't charge all three at the same time using the triple charging cable - it has been suggested that with all three connected, the coil is constantly trying to pair and this impedes the charging process.
Fourthly and least likely is a faulty coil or battery, but then there have apparently been quite a few of these reported - I believe Regtons are kept quite busy testing returned coils...how many have been found to be faulty I don't know.
Off to buy a clip now.

Thanks for all the advice. Alas, the coil was charging on its own as the headphones were showing a full charge, so I didn't bother plugging them in.

If that was the case, it would be constantly looking to pair even charging the items seperatly, I wonder if its an issue if they are turned on before charging?Phil2401 wrote: Sun Feb 11, 2018 9:05 am

If it just happened the once I would not worry about it, but if it happens regularly then there is a clear issue that needs addressing.

Before charging my coil I always give the gold contact points on the coil top a very vigorous rub with my licked thumb. Also as mentioned above, an object put beneath coil to help good clip contact.
I have never bothered to do a proper check of led flashing but before I knew any better I did sometimes see the coil light flashing in a similar manner to "fully charged". However I knew it could not possibly be charged in such a short time (about 3 to 4 hours normal for me) so then realized the clip had perhaps been disturbed by someone or our spaniel walking close by. I now put the charging items in a position where anyone (or dog) walking near will not disturb the charging process. Although I cannot say for certain, I think the flashing coil light "fully charged" is the same as we would get if the clip was disturbed or loose so if the coil is observed after, say 1 hour, we could be fooled into thinking it is fully charged.

I try and keep the crud off my dues contacts with a small bit of insulation tape rightly or wrongly. I believe they are gold plated ? and no charging probs so far apart from on no 3 charge clip ..

Great, thanks for all the advice.
I think blaming the Spaniel is the best suggestion
I have a Schnauzer, so she'll get the blame.
As was rightly pointed out though, if it only happens once, who cares?
