Anyone from Romney Marsh/Ashford/East Sussex area?

Post by Ness »

Hey hunters,

I usually search on my own but think it might be nice to go with someone.
I also don't mind doing all the research if you're a good door knocker ::g .

Anywhere around Romney Marsh, Ashford, South Kent or East Sussex are near me, but can travel.

I'm quite happy going solo but reckon it might be more fun with a mate (that understands our weird hobby lol)

Hi Ness, my name is Jonah, I’m in st Mary’s Bay.
Just retired, got a Garrett 400i and a bit of enthusiasm, mostly go over the beach for a bit of a dig.
Haven’t gotten around to getting any permissions, knowing where to start would be good.
Drop me a ‘mail, or pop down to new Romney sea cadets Monday or Thursday evening after 7:00.
Cheers.

Hi Jonah,
So sorry I haven't replied, it wasn't showing that I had a message!!
I have a Garrett Euro Ace at the mo but I'm thinking of upgrading, perhaps the Orx, I'm not too sure.
I live in Lydd so pretty close to you. I haven't really tried beach detecting yet, I heard Camber wasn't very good, hows St Mary's Bay? Do you find much?
I have permission for quite alot of land in Newchurch and it will be ready soon. Do you fancy coming with me one day? I've been detecting about a year and it is SO addictive.

Let me know if you'd like to do a bit field detecting.

All the best,
Vanessa

I do Dymchurch, St Mary's Bay and Camber at least a couple of times a week. Do give me a shout when you see me. ::g

Hi there,

I am from the Canterbury area but regularly travel through Romney Marsh to Rye and Battle where I have family. I am very interested in these areas historically and would really love to do some metal detecting in some interesting locations so would be more than happy to meet up sometime for a search. Let me know and drop me a line! I work from home on occasion so during the week is also possible as well as weekends.

The beaches are all dead quiet at the moment. We called in all a lot of the local beaches the other day and eventually ended up at Camber where I sweated blood to get a fiver. :D

BUMP. [08/]

I’d be interested if anyone in the Romney Marsh/Rye/Rye Harbour area has anything of interest to report.

Such as can you detect on the local beaches without a permit? Are there any good spots? Any action?

Thanks [08/]

Hi everyone
I’m looking for a club in the Ashford area for me and my son could join . I’m 65 and my son is 45 we’re both fit and have our own transport. So if there’s anybody out there who can help it would be much appreciated.
Kind regards
John

Hi Jal, and welcome to the forum. [81/]

This topic is 5 years old, and most replies are old too. You may have more joy if you start your own topic.

Many traditional clubs are full, due to the huge increase in the number of detectorists in recent years. You may find something in our Clubs Forum. Better still, finding you own permission is the best way forward, and you can find some advice in our Permissions forum.
