A little help and advice please

I have 2 XP Deus metal detectors both running on V4 software which is all I have ever used. (one for me one for my boy)

18 months ago when I was getting started I found quite a few posts on here saying that people had uploaded the V4 software not liked it for various reasons and reverted to V3. Then along came V5, have the V3 diehards stayed true or have they found that V5 is a real improvement?

The reason for the timing of my question is that I recently bought a X35 coil and I intended downloading the V5 software on one of my machines and either leaving the other on V4 or possibly depending on the responses I get, changing it to V3.

I have a full range of coils including HF that I know won’t run on V3.

Any words of wisdom would be welcome.

I run V4.0 and have had some great finds this year.
There are lots of people that hated it, but I stuck with it.
I have been considering updating it to V5.(?) but having had more hammered than my updated DB,
I’m in two minds. I’m told it’s more stable but results have to be considered.
I am also told that if I update and don’t like it I can’t reload V4.0 from XP.

There is going back, but not to V4.0 apparently. V4.1 would be available.

I still use 3.2 with all 3 black coils. As I see it upgrades since have been platforms for new (very expensive) coils. I can't see me changing any time soon as happy with results now. If I was looking to spend that kind of money I would probably add a nox to my repertoire. The thing about the new coils is that they're very good on gold and the Indian,Australian, South African etc. markets are far bigger for the manufacturers than the UK is, so they need to convince us to buy them as well.

I recently had a software problem with my Deus Lite (V3.2) and returned it to the very well known shop where I bought it for them to look at. I had a telephone conversation re upgrading to the latest version software, which was done for me, and it's now fine. I mentioned that different people on the forum seemed to have their own version preferences, and should I just upgrade to V4, which many seem happy with. I have to bow to the experience of the very well thought of person I was conversing with, and he was convinced that the latest software should always be loaded into the machine as the wizards at Deus obviously upgrade for very good reasons, stability, bug fixes, improved programming etc. This, of course, is just my experience but I think I'll be keeping up to date as things progress.

I was of the same mind as you and bought a Equinox 800 about a month ago, although I have found things with it, so far I’d say it spoils a good walk, I am just not gelling with it. It must be me as everyone else seems to love them but I prefer the Deus, although I will say one good thing about it I’ve never dug a hot rock.

Wouldn't it be great if XP were able to modify the system to eliminate hot rocks? The xy screen helps to some extent however.

I adored v4.1 but you couldn’t pay me to go back to it now. v5.21 with the X35 coil is absolutely superb

On hot rocks the XY screen has sorted those out on my site. They come in mid 30s with a lovely signal but a perfect vertical line on the screen. I’m confident in eliminating them and not missing any good targets
