New Garrett Ace 250 issues.

Post by Lucas1860 »

Good evening all.

I'm new to detecting. I've been out with a mate a few time. Enjoying it I decided to buy the Garrett Ace 250. It came yesterday. This evening I assembled it. On examination it seems all is not right with the unit.

No sensitivity bar, no battery status, no relic mode or coin mode.

On looking it seems this was an issue with the a few years back.

Can anyone enlighten me on whether its me or the detector.

I will be contacting the supplier tomorrow.

Regards and thanks in advance.

Jim.

Evening.

The batteries were already installed.

It turns on but doesn't show or allow the features as mentioned.

Cheers.

I was surprised that the batteries were installed. It came with them I know but installing them prior has raised an eyebrows.

Please tell me you didn’t buy it from ebay... :-L

There are counterfeit machines around I’m afraid. I really hope yours isn’t one of those :(

As you've purchased it through Regton's then you'll get a great service for repair or replace ::g
It's strange how it came with the batteries pre-installed. I can only assume that the team at Regton's did that. Was the good deal you got because it was a second user machine or maybe a demo - that could explain the batteries. But then, if that was the case, I would not have expected the display to be faulty? Mystery.

Great machine btw. ::g

It sounds like some dry joints on the pcb connection to the screen, but as you bought it from Regtons best to organise a refund/replacement with them rather than start poking inside it.
Hope you get sorted soon!

Thanks for the help and advice. The company have told me to use the detector over the weekend and they'll send out a new one next week and pick the other up. Much appreciated to all

That's a good result regarding the problems you experienced. Well handled and well resolved by Regton's - No surprises there then ::g Regards ss47 ::g
A disservice is no service at all.
