You don't.. Only if you want wireless sound. You can plug in headphones in the control unit - with wiremrcheeky wrote: Fri Oct 11, 2019 10:30 pm thinking of getting a deus with remote control only thing im confused about is why do i need the ws4 headphones ?
Why do you need WS4 ones or headphones in general?
If you want to go wireless you need to either use the WS4 or WS5 headphones. Both are stand alone units that communicate with the wireless coils. You can however chose to plug in any other headphones (that fit a standard mobile phone) to your controller. They will be wired but work fine.
Note if your controller is not available you can use your WS4 or WS5 headphones instead to communicate with and control the coil

You don't need to have the Ws4 or even the Ws5 headphones as you can use plug in headphones with the remote.
As both sets of headphones are wireless you end up being tethered to the remote, switch off the remote you can still detect using the headphones.

Dont need to be charged so often B-)

I would strongly suggest that you go down the wireless route and use the backphones. The Deus was designed with wireless connectivity in mind. When I first started, pre-Deus days I had wired phones. I found it really constricting to be tethered to the machine. If I wanted to put it down to examine a hole or a find it was a real nuisance. I don't even have a remote control, just use the phones, or if I want to see the numbers I have the blue backphones as well and clip the 'puck' into the Deus silicone wristband with the wire running down my arm. Seems to defeat the object not to be wireless.
