Deus disappointment
While out on a west wales beach Borth to be precise my Deus was rendered useless on wet sand falsing with every sweep just couldn't calm it down, used the preset wet beach and Gary blackwells settings but it was absolutely no go tried all sorts of adjustments even had an expert from Somerset on the phone guiding me through different adjustments, but still hopeless. Are some beaches just no good with the Deus seen lots of videos where it performs really well,I am on version 5.21 and have 11 inch black coil and 9 inch round HF white coil.Any thoughts or comments be appreciated thanks.

AS I understand it, the Deus whilst not known for outstanding ability on beaches is said to be a reasonable performer given the correct settings and lower sensitivity. However, some Welsh beaches are a very tough challenge for many machines and will probably take some time to get the hang of operating on them.
One of our many Deus/Beach operators will be along shortly to pass on their own experience and knowledge.
Good Luck - Regards ss47

I had the same problem about 2 years ago - I was told by more experienced DEUS users than myself that it is too erratic on wet sand but is okay/competent on dry sand. I struggled for hours and hours, using every setting and program under the sun but there was always lots of falsing and erratic signals. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Deus and I think you will definitely not be disappointed on inland sites but I don’t think it’s great on a wet beach. Hopefully someone on here will be able to help, I’ll watch your post with interest.

I have had my Deus since they came out and only once ventured onto a beach where it worked well, though it was mostly dry. Well done for your perseverance and positive stance, Liam

Unfortunately not all wet sand beaches are the same, you may be able to get a single frequency machine such as the Deus detecting OK on one beach but on another it will be totally unusable as you have found. On dry sand you will very rarely find a problem. You just have to find a beach it will work on or get a machine that will cope better with wet sand if you want to do beaches on a regular basis.
Most machines that use multiple frequencies at the same time will cope a lot better on the wet and Pulse Induction machines love the wet but are an acquired taste due to the lack of discrimination.

I know that it is possible to set up a Deus so that it works on wet sand because I have detected alongside people who have done ok. However, it will never really be a beach machine as such.mariothemoss wrote: Fri Nov 01, 2019 2:18 am Thank you for that advice didn't turn down sensitivity much do wonder if would of helped probably thought I would be losing depth how low would you think I could go without depth reduction.![]()

I had the exact same problem today but with a garrett 400i.
That said, It is my first time out in the field for a long time and the 400i is a brand new toy for me.
I was aware that the problem was the sand/water thing but didn't hang around on the area as I'm getting to know my machine.
So this is for you to know you're not alone and that you and I will be following the tips we get in here
