I eventually retreated to the base of the dunes and detected my way westward. I put the Safari into all metals and working by audio and numbers tried to avoid too much WWII shrapnel and scrap.
Once the tide had turned, at lunch time, and I could get back onto the beach I turned and started working my way back eastward. I was trying to recover one target, close to the base of the dunes, when a large section of sand slipped and reburied it.
Unfortunately, the tides and storms have removed large volumes of sand from the base of the big dunes and there are vast, vertical, cliffs of heavy sand just waiting to come sliding down onto any unwary individual that happens to be there when they do slip.
The large dunes at Talacre look to be dangerously unstable!
Please take the upmost care and remember that our Crown Permits do not allow for detecting above the mean high tide linen, or below the mean low tide line.
