Late Medieval gold brooch now on V&A display

Post by Fusion »

This was found on an organised dig near Corby in 2017. It's now on display at the Victoria & Albert Museum.

I know it wouldn't be authentic, but it needs the missing diamond replacing, in my opinion. ( and a couple of pearls )

If the V&A can put a replica helmet on the Star Wars Stormtrooper costume for display, they could certainly put a paste diamond on this brooch for display.

That's beautiful piece and an excellent example of detectorists recovering our heritage to the benefit of the nation. There are more now than ever before, similar finds of importance being displayed countrywide in our museums. ::g Regards ss47

I agree, it looks horrid, like a mish mash of left over bits!

Still it is rather unique.

They told me I’d never be any good at poetry, because I’m dyslexic, but so far I’ve made 3 jugs and a vase.

Kind of reminds me of space probes, bits sticking out everywhere, and gold foil to reflect the heat:

Looked like one of them crabs that covers itself in seabed detritus to me, but I'd settle for it any day.
