Welcome aboard the forums.
Before your hovering finger strikes, I should have a look at this link.

And have a good read through the various Garrett Model forums ,remembering you intend searching beaches (salt wet sand as well as dry)? Good Luck. Regards ss47

A disservice is no service at all.
Hi Johnny
Welcome to the forum
. You might want to read this topics for an answer to your question.
They aren't the best machines for wet sand so it’s worth doing a bit more research and be honest with yourself on where you’ll go detecting. If it is mainly beach then you might have to up your budget a bit more

Welcome . I had a ace 150 and liked it at the time, , i also had the 250 which i found loads with, not great on wet sand but great on the dry beach wise, the 250 can be a bit better fine tuned than the 150

I started detecting with a basic Ace 250 which at first was ok. covering large area's seemed to take forever so dived in a bought the Nel tornado coil. small or big coil on wet sand is a nightmare so gave up beach detecting. must admit I did discover some interesting items but after upgrading and revisiting the same pastures I was amazed at what I had missed. once you add up the price of the 250 + large coil I would add some extra cash and buy a better machine. im no expert or may have been using the ace all wrong but im giving you my honest opinion. there are some good deals on second hand machines from various sources or maybe a fellow member has a reasonable detector for sale. happy hunting and good luck

Thanks-I think I shall hold off and save up a bit and do some research on here and make my first buy a good one , Thanks again ☺
I'm in a similar sort of situation at the minute
I don't want to pay loads, but want best bang for buck!
I thought I'd decided on one but then a new machine came out that seems to be more suitable for beaches? Maybe?
So, I still haven't pulled the trigger!

The ACE 250 is an amazing machine for the money - you would need to spend a considerable amount more to find anything that will outperform it in most situations.

You need to be aware the ACE150 has no pinpoint function, this is a very handy function to locate your finds
Go for the 250 if your budget will let you
Also these models of machines have been updated to the ACE200i ACE300i which you may wish to add to the equation
Best of luck in whatever you decide.
