C.Scope cs2 mx red label Starter Detector

Post by DatchwortSteve »

Hi there.
I have been looking at cheap simple starter detectors to have a bit of fun with on the beach and in Horse paddocks. Would the cs2 mx red label fit the purpose or would i be better off with a newer detector with digital display and more settings?
I am keen to learn about different tones and settings.
Any help would be appreciated. [42/] [81/]

Hello DatchwortSteve, As you are intending to operate on beaches and inland sites, it would be wise to browse through the forum headings over there l;/. I can also recommend a read of THIS which has been produced as a helpful guide for newcomers to the hobby and the forum.

Hopefully, it will provide a sound basis for you to decide which 'type' of machine will suit you and your budget. Good Luck - ss47

Hi there

The CS2MX is a very capable machine even though we havent made them for quite a number of years. It is a very easy machine to use.

Do you know if ifs a MK1 or MK2?? The way to tell is does it have just an armsaver on the back of the stem or does it have the speaker housing as well?

Cheers Andy.

I have in fact just purchased an almost new cs770XD. I know this is a bit of a "marmite" MD but it seemed to tick all the boxes I was looking for at a price that wouldn't hurt if it didn't all work out.

Cant wait to get it now and start messing around in the dirt. Can see a few early morning trips to the seaside on the horizon as well.

Is there a regular service interval on these detectors or are they pretty much maintenance free?

Not many things are maintenance free these days [27/] but there are few things to routinely check with any machine and these checks themselves are worth maintaining throughout the ownership of the detector, all common sense really but specifically check for these conditions periodically .......

1. Battery connectors for oxidised terminals/erosion)
2. Integrity of cables and coil/control box plug/sockets.
3. Scrutiny of the cable at the point it enters the search-coil.
4. Obvious impact damage to the search coil edges and base.

Hope this helps - Regards ss47 [81/]
