Is beach detecting in France legal?

Post by cammann »

Hi All,

we had hoped to visit France (near La Rochelle) by car in a few weeks time and I was wondering if somebody could enlighten me as to their laws (and general views) on detecting on beaches. Is it allowed (legally) and accepted by other beachgoers? I'd typically avoid busy places (especially in the current climate) and go along in the evening when beaches are clearer.

Any guidance would be very much appreciated.

In general you wont have much of a problem if detecting after 7PM and before about 9AM.
But not the war beaches.
