River Derwent Detecting

Hi does anyone know if detecting in the River Derwent is allowed? Would love to try but not sure as who owns it. Thanks

Riparian water rights is what you need to read up on, eg 2 landowners adjacent to a watercourse will own or have rights to the centre line of said course, i think.

Which River Derwent are you talking about .. there must be at least half a dozen of the things...

This may be of interest from Mr Google:-

There are four rivers which go by the name of Derwent, all of which are located in England. The thirty five mile long River Derwent on Tyne and Wear, the sixty six mile long River Derwent in Derbyshire, the sixty mile long River Derwent in Cumbria and the one hundred mile long River Derwent in Yorkshire. ss47
A disservice is no service at all.
