Hi
I have just bought my first metal detector - a Nokta Simplex! Are there any detectorists nearby that I could get in contact with for advice or to go on digs? I just want to find somewhere I can start this fun hobby. How easy is it to get permission from a farmer? 10% of the time?

Thanks,Kevin

Hello Kevin, Welcome aboard the forums [81/] The truth is that due to current Covid-19 restrictions placed upon us all, this is not exactly the best time to be approaching farmer/landowners for permission to be on their land for any reason. Limits have been introduced on 'group activities' such as organised digs and charity events.

The good news, is that the situation should slowly improve and until then, there is always the beach to consider, some of which do require consent being obtained. This link would be my personal recommended first port of call as it contains information you need to be aware of:-

Beginner's Gutde

Good Luck, let's hope the situation improves before too long [81/]
