Or like many users if you run it open screen with no discrim then you'll be hearing all iron etc which should mean that your machine will not be nulling out for discrimed out nails meaning you Should hear the good targets near the iron. And that way it best to run in ferrous mode as all good targets are high tone and iron is an obvious low tone.hope this helps and doesn't confuse you too much. Sj
