Minelab pro find 20

Hi. I got the vanquish 540 at Christmas and it came with a pro find 20 pinpointer. Not sure if it's faulty or we're doing something wrong. When you turn it on, sometimes it takes ages to do the ready to use beep, as in 30 or 40 seconds. Sometimes it just doesn't. If it doesn't make the beep, when you turn it off and back on again it's just constant, fast, beeping and it won't do anything, except beep. Other times you turn it on, it does the beep like it should, and it works fine.
We're newbies and only been in the garden once and the beach once. Didn't use it at the beach.
It probably worked 50% of the time.

Try replacing the battery Phil, the new battery trick always works for me.
