We do not see many posts on the Mars pinpointer which maybe a good thing as most tend to post when they are having problems
Maybe you could let us know how you get along with yours![ThumbsUp [81/]](./images/smilies/81_EmoticonsHDcom.png)

I've owned two Mars Pinpointers for almost four years.
They are rugged, and very capable.
They take a 9V (PP3) Battery, and normally last a good long time.
You should have no problems.
Regards.

Well the whole package arrived yesterday, I wasn't expecting it until the end of next week. To say I'm a touch excited is an understatement. The Gauss MD and the pinpointer pack. Unfortunately it will be Sunday before I can get out with it. Tried it in the apartment but there is so much rebar in the building I had to turn it back off
.
Well I discovered this weekend that the Mars pinpointer doesn't pick up brass bullet casings! I find this a little annoying to say the least. I am really not very confident in it at all. I find myself using the hand technique of waving it in front of the coil to find my targets. Surely it should pick up brass casings?.

I suggest that you send it back for replacement.

There has been so many issues posted here at the MDF that have simply been resolved by exchanging the battery so dont feel stupid, maybe just a little

Some pinpointers appreciate a fresh quality battery more than others, working & working right are not the same thing, no need to feel stupid

I just changed it on a whim and then retested the bullet casings and it picked them up just fine. I just wish it gave maybe three bleeps on startup when the battery is getting low.EquinoxHunter wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 11:27 am Some pinpointers appreciate a fresh quality battery more than others, working & working right are not the same thing, no need to feel stupid![]()
