1st Timer in Looe

Post by Liz2005Liz2012 »

Have just joined this site.

We are in Looe for a weeks holiday. Do I need permission to use my detector on the beaches.
Have had the odd weekend in Bournemouth clearing the beach of ring pulls. still new to detecting.
Thanks Liz.

Hi, unfortunately you can't detect on either beach as they belong to a local trust. I checked a few weeks ago when I was thinking of going to Polperro. The local County Council only controls a couple of beaches in the area and you will need to contact Jolyon Sharpe for permission. Most of the beaches in the area are privately owned of National Trust. You could try approaching West Looe and East Looe Trusts, but I've been told they don't issue permits.

Jolyon Sharpe is the local County Council beach officer and you can reach him through the switchboard on 0300 1234 202.
Cheers, John

Hi Liz, this post I made a few weeks ago might be useful as you are going down anyway. It lists all the regional beach officers and might be useful if you are planning days out.
