Beach rubbish

Post by Duncanmagoo »

I guess clearing the beach is better than no signals at all lol. Sent this photo to a detecting buddy that couldn’t make it and he asked if that is a fossilised dinosaur turd?

I didn’t see it until he told me. (+"$

Lead is about £1 per kilo at the moment and it soon builds up. Whole fishing weighs can be saved up and sell easily on Facebook marketplace. [81/]

To be fair I hadn’t thought about what I was actually going to do with them. Glad you commented as I guess I’d have gone on clueless lol.

It really depends on beach, few days ago I went to St Mildred's Bay, and it was one of the cleanest beaches I have seen, a signal once every 30 minutes and either a broken top of the glass bottle with a "ring", or some sort of flat damaged metal bit.. all went straight to the bin.
I guess that's why some councils are open to metal detection as they get free cleaning [81/]
The only finds I took back with me were some sort of lead rolls that maybe one day I will take to the scrap..

Breakaway leads are expensive if you've a habit of not reeling them back in ! [81/]
Rolling about naked in mud will give the wrong impression.

Are they musket balls?

I’d be well happy getting a couple of those off our beach. When I was a kid, a boyfriend of my mom used to detect and came home with musket balls quite regularly. I was always fascinated by them and the detecting. I guess that’s why I didn’t have a problem starting the hobby.
