Hi Guys,
great to be part of this forum I'm literally so close to owning a working Minelab explorer see, the only thing I need to do is fix the damn thing lol.
my uncle has given it to me and said it all mine if I can get it up and running the only problem is somebody else has had a bash first, what a nightmare not great but hey I love a challenge and am pretty savvy with fixing all sorts of electronics etc, there's also an issue as there's no battery, that's not totally necessary as I have a range of power supply I can attach to the power cables.

I've took it apart to have a look if there's anything obvious' and to be fair it looks ok apart from a small gauge black wire coming from the coil plug,is this supposed to be attached anywhere as there's no sign of a detached cable on the boards.
any pointers would be great guys including any pictures of the inside of the boards.

with any luck, I will be on my way to a field near you [81/] [81/]

Just send it to Steve cox at msr
He is a minelab approved tech and will fix and calibrate it back to spec
If you start changing resistors, caps etc then the spec will be off etc
Up to you but I would send it to steve

I would be ashamed to be honest lol, although it certainly looks beter than it did with tape around it, it may of been an easy fix which is why i asked first to try and save some money

Any pointers?
I think it's worth registering with the technical detecting/treasure-hunting forum 'geotech1 dot com' , as there's certain to be some previous repair discussions. And if you're stuck, you could ask some of the experienced folks on there.
