Hi Guys,
I'm sorry if this has been asked before but am looking to upgrade the coil on my Ace 250. I'd ideally like a bit more depth so I've done a bit of research and the Garrett 8.5 x 11 DD seems like a worthy contender.
I've seen a few 12 x 13 NEL tornado coil's come up for sale, I'm wondering if any of you have experience with this coil and know whether it's any good?
I'm detecting mainly on farmland so trash isn't a massive issue. I'm also somewhat of a beginner so not wanting to spend big buks!
Are there any other similar coils out there that i should consider?
Cheers,
Harry.

The DD coil is the one fitted as standard on the 400i and the AT Pro.
I find it very good. The extra size is handy but it doesn’t feel numb.

I had a Nel Hunter on my 250 & it trashed the balance.
Garrett coils made for Garrett detectors so the 8.5 x 11 DD is a no brainer AFAIC, better coverage than the standard coil without ended up swinging a dustbin lid.![BigGrin [88/]](./images/smilies/88_EmoticonsHDcom.png)

Rolling about naked in mud will give the wrong impression.

Hi Rag
I’ve run the Nel Tornado on the 400i for a while. Found it covers a bit more ground and depth compared to the DD stock coil and maybe easier to find one second hand. Adds a little more weight and pin pointing isn’t as accurate as the stock coil. I enjoyed using it on bigger clean fields. Both the DD and the Tornado will hopefully give you a bit more than the 250 coil.
