most people who detect on the beach with the 250 seem to encounter issues on the wet sand, however I don't seem to! I think it is the mineralisation, so depends on each beach.

Only advice I can give is to run it is relic mode, only the iron should be ignored and I have several double signals now, where a ringpull is next to a coin etc. So rescan your holes.

Have fun!

Hi LL

I do a lot of beach detecting with my Ace 250 and also find relic mode is the best. I run it on full sensitivity on dry sand and knock it down to 3 notches in the wet which seems to stop the falsing.
Have a good day and looking forward to seeing your finds.. [:)

3 notches in wet sand it works well enough, not the best but it works

ive just come back from woolacombe and ran the ace on full sens on the dry sand. 6 pounds for parking found 11.25 in a week ! picked out plenty of coins that had been there for years, and thats with 1 guy who said he detected there every night for past 5 years.

1 tip i would give you is take your sieve out the cupboard, i was spending ages just to find foil and 5p's !

If you are down there for the week you can get a permit for Swanage beach from the tourist office on the front and it's only about 8 miles down the coast, but you'll only be able to dig during early morning and after 6pm. Weymouth in only about another 20 miles down the coast and the same rules apply, but you don't need a permit, just go before 10 and after 6.

Cheers, John

turn down the sensitivity till its happy on wet sand. You still Get good depth. On wet Zig zag around If you Dont know the beach till you find a coin at Least. If you find a coin, pendant, ring whatever there's a good chance there's more in that area (hot spot). Try around rocks and look out for clusters of pebbles on the beach that might indicate sand being washed out to sea. On dry turn the sensitivity up and look for were people might sit and around piers etc. Keep an eye on the tide, it can creep up on you pretty quick when coming in. Good luck.
