I finally gave up trying and emailed Crown Estates.

I got a very nice reply today apologising that their link was not working. They said they would fix it as soon as possible but in the meantime if I emailed them my name and address they would post me a permit.

Thoroughly nice and helpful.

Yes it does, but there's no map available for Scotland, you have to contact them yourself and ask about the area you're interested in. Can take a while sometimes to get an answer so don't hang about.

Many thanks for pointing us to the Crown Estate permit site; I will be laminating mine and placing it in my bag ready for the weekend.

Is anybody having trouble with the Crown Foreshore Map PDF's? The links are no longer active.

I just loaded up the South East one okay, although it did take its time.

Can someone please explain this for me

Prince Charles does not want anyone to maybe profit from the foreshores

unless Prince Charles can profit to the tune of £60 first

and that is for each and every detectorist

Hi, didn't realise the permits had an expiry date. Mine has run out so been trying to use the link to re-apply but I guess it's down for Christmas! Has any-one used the link succesfully lately?

I have just got my permit but had to use the (Metal Detecting on Crown Estate Foreshore) link from page 1 of this thread, as the other one does not work! Give it a bash. :-O ;) :D
