Nel Tornado target center

Post by TheDonut »

Hi all ,
First trip out today with the NT on my GA 200i.
As I don't have pinpoint on the 200i , cld any users of the NT point out the sort of center zone. I get it's somewhere near the middle ish , but maybe it's in front or behind end of shaft? Quite enjoy trying to find X marks the spot without the pinpoint feature , but be handy to glean any tips on using the NT.
Flask made , long Johns going on , then I'm off to coin alley to test her out . Figured it was best to try it where I've been before.

Cheers

Had a Nel tornado like yours on a euro ace for 6 months...good coil and detected nice and deep!

Dug out a George 2 half penny at 14 inches once! Damp ground helps too I found.

I watched a few you tube instructional videos and found directly in the middle was centre, where the shaft joins. Obviously you need to do the x move over the target from different angles and I did find it was accurate at finding the centre of target..
Hope this helps

If you dont have a PP function on your machine,to try and get a decent idea of the exact pinpoint centre why dont you just place some coins on the ground and swing your coil over it it should give you a pretty decent idea of what the location on the coil is used for PP.

It should take alot of the guesswork out [81/]

Well that was tricky😐
Power lines interfering , knocked down sensitivity , but grass is so long I was struggling. Not ideal condition to be testing tbh. Was also getting a lot of ghost signals and also extremely jumpy signals. Interestingly away from power lines signal better in some places better than others. Perhaps the NT is sensing different soil conditions a lot more than the stock coil , definitely felt like that.🀷

Still , think I found my fanciest buckle to date and what seems size wise to be an old farthing , no detail though.
Will try again over xmas.

Ref sensitivity, wet grass will sometimes produce false signals, generally use 2 off max but 3 off should cure the problem. This happens regardless of wether you are using the stock coil or NT on the Garrett.
Good Luck, [81/]
