Garrett Factory Reset ?

It seems to be common practice to do a factory reset on a fresh out of the box detector, or when changing the coil, but I have never found any recommendation for doing this in the manuals that I have read. The option to do a reset is mentioned in general but no reasons for doing so are detailed.
Is there a need to ‘pair’ a coil with a control unit or do the electronics do it automatically?

Which detector are you referring too? There may be different requirements specified for the various machines. Cheers Eric

Hi Eric.

I’m looking at the Garrett Ace 400i and the Garrett Apex.
Both manuals refer to factory resets but add no specifics as regards doing so when a coil is changed, yet this is recommended on various YouTube videos.
I’m just curious as to whether or not this is recommended for detectors in general.

For my brand just switch off change coil and away i go again. Never needed to factory reset.

I got the Garrett 200i , to reset I pressed and held the power button. Think it restsarts on Rings and knock sensitivity to 3 notches so be aware so u can go back to your normal set up.
