Hi all, just a quick chirp for anyone interested,
I was looking at buying a 15" WOT coil for my Etrac and noticed how similar the 15" NOX coil is to it, apart from the cost.
Anyway, I contacted Coiltek to ask what differences there were between the two coils, ( obviously the Nox and the Etrac are two different machines), i was informed that the same mould is used in manufacture but thats were it ends, the internal wiring set up of the Nox coil is totally different from that of the Wot coil, its not just a clone with a different plug.
Vin.
Just a thought though, how many different ways are there to configure a DD coil?

The coil inner wire lengths will be different to be resonant on different frequencies
That’s why most coils are not interchangeable with different makes

I think also that the nox coils have some additional circuitry which is interrogated by the control box on startup to confirm coil type/size and (as possibly a useful side effect) to make copies/ripoffs more difficult.

Many Thanks Simon, very interesting, long gone are the days of BFO machines and simple wire coils.
