Re the land - it really does need to be detectable at least? Green waste - I had it bad on a Forum Dig in Norwich some years back, very embarrassing and the landowner was not even aware, all hell broke out on the phone to his farming contractor when he heard. [20/]
We have the 2022 Forum Dig coming up this Friday to Sunday in Leics - plenty of spaces left - and the land looks really promising, with roman site included [75/] viewtopic.php?f=35&t=141185
Like Dave, I am not too keen on the big commercial outfits as their priority is maximum numbers and revenue.
Not filling in holes - Anyone too lazy to kick the soil back into a hole on our Forum Digs is invited to leave the field immediately [81/]
Neil, looking forward to meeting up on Thursday. Not sure if my geriatric old body will be up to detecting all day, but the lure of good finds waiting for the sweep of my coil may keep me going!
Plus a few life-saving (medicinal) cold lagers later on at the hotel [75/]
Well done all, Liam :;@
Very much agree, went on my own and soon chatting and making acquaintances. It's the experience I was keen to be a part of and didn't disappoint. I'm attending a smaller event at the end of the month more my style I think, plus most of all can't wait for this weekend. I will keep you company with the beers (only thinking of you of course haha). My knee, hip and hamstrings will have recovered by then [08/] - so ill keep going till I drop, which is getting less each year!

Every field was a battle against wet heavy clay with garden waste scattered all over. On day 2 field 22 was a 40 minute walk from parking but of course the staff and 'VIPs' are shuttled in on gators lol. Once on the Sunday fields you quickly see that there are settled footprints and holes dug from the day or night before. Toilets were not maintained, disgusting and no bog roll. Only a couple of table and chairs available for you to have food or drink in the main area so it didn't encourage you to stay for long. Bumped into a fella who claimed to be a chairman or vice of a MD club who was driving around the field margins in a landrover, he said he has been detecting the fields for 50 years!! There was a comment removed from the facebook group - someone providing feedback about the green waste and someone who refused to come back for day 2. If I was one of the many people that had travelled all the way from Europe etc just for this event then I would have been really annoyed, however being fairly local that was no issue for me. Event staff all seemed nice and very helpful so can't fault them at all. Still managed to come away with a few hammies and romans so it was worth in the end! haha. As always the people that were there really made the experience and there were definitely finds coming up for those who were able to persevere [81/]

I did hear someone in camping saying the toilets were bad but have to say our nearest ones were fine and I'm sure we're cleaned sat night as 8am Sunday were spotless and fresh with loads of bog roll and soap I can only talk about the one's I used but no complaints here, the seating and tables I agree unless you carted your camping chairs up we couldn't find a seat so had an hour and went back to caravan. My biggest problem was because I was detecting through the day unless I didn't detect didn't get to see the stalls they did seem to close early I understand they had been open all day and now I know will be better prepared next year so never got to see the Manticore 🙁

That's a point I thought myself! All 'events', FLO, raffle, stalls, releases etc were open at the same time as detecting hours so didn't see any. Maybe a later start on these with finishing a couple of hours after end of detecting would be better. 🤔
